We decided to make a quick test run trip in the new Mindy to the Painted Hills this past weekend:
http://www.nps.gov/joda/planyourvisit/painted_hills_unit.htm).

We were only about an hour ahead of a major storm, so we explored the hills for a quick stint. Really gorgeous area, and one we would opt to return to for further adventure exploration.

Then we hustled back from the open trails and enjoyed watching the dark clouds and storm roll through over the stunning landscape from the safety and warmth of the Mindy with snacks, books, and Go Fish.

As the rain quieted we made our way to explore campsites for the evening, and settled on a great spot along a creek in the Ochocho National Forest.

We enjoyed some campsight running, biking, and fire wood collecting, after the rain cleared.

Clyde had the VERY best time of all... happy free-roaming hound.

We worked out the kinks of the new camper van: how to set up the beds, use the stove, roll out the awning, etc, etc. It was a great trip to kickoff our Spring/Summer Mindy exploring series around the Pacific Northwest!
