We have been having so much fun playing with Ben and celebrating his 2 wonderful years as a Schmid kid, that I have been remiss in posting about his big birthday celebration... (Warning- VERY LONG POST! :)
Well- he and all of his buddies had loads of fun at his Monkey Party (grinning and laughing the whole time)! 
We played a version of pin the tale on the monkey (Kyle served as the "moving target"... helping the dizzy/blindfolded munchkins get relatively close to the target :)
We hunted for monkeys in the wild...
We had fun with the balloons, of course! It was a 2-year olds birthday after all! 
And ate lots of cupcakes, and yummy cookies (thanks Grammy Jackie!)...
Ben received loads of very kind gifts and well wishes from friends and family. Thank you all very much for your thoughtfulness.

The next day (Ben's actual birthday- July 9th), I took the day off and we spent a fabulous day together and with family (Kyle's cousin, Craig and his nephew, Stephen were visiting from CA- a treat to have them here for a visit).
Ben, Clyde, and I went on a beautiful 3 mile hike along the river.
This kid can move! I am convinced he's going to be a marathoner. He walked most of the 3 miles, while Mommy gave him a shoulder ride for breaks here and there.
We sang the Itsy Bitsy Spider and played I Spy while hiking (Ben spied a squirrel, I spied a spotted dog :)
We made it to "The Bridge"...
And then we kept on chugging along the back side...
That evening we hit up the Munch & Music Festival in the park down the street, and Benny got to sample the inflatable bouncing events, slides, and fried dough. (Cute outfit Grammy JuJu - It fit perfectly!)
He clearly enjoyed himself and is still talking about "My Birthday!"
Of course we're biased, but Ben really is a special little boy. He's sweet, loving, silly, has a bright spirit, and is just plain fun to be around. We have enjoyed every day with this special addition to our lives and couldn't imagine life without him. We know he's getting older and life will get tougher with this latest hint- the newest addition to his vocabulary: When asked to do something or not allowed to do something, he inquires, "Because why!?" Uh-oh. We love you so very much, Benny. You make us all smile and giggle more each day. Happy 2nd Birthday, buddy!! xoxo

wow!! catching up with Ben! can't believe he's two already. wasn't he just 4 months old and cam was like 9 weeks..back in 'awaaheee?? jeez. time flies. He is a handsome little devil! looks like you've got your hands full with a smart and adventurous little athlete like you! congratulations!!! xoxo
